Fibula Right
Fibula: Also known as the calf bone, the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg.
Location: Lateral side of the tibia, runs parallel from knee to ankle.
Function: Provides lateral stability to the ankle and support for muscle attachment; does not bear significant weight.
Head of Fibula: Proximal end, articulates with the lateral side of the tibia below the knee joint.
Shaft: Long, slender portion; serves as an attachment point for muscles and ligaments.
Lateral Malleolus: Distal end of the fibula, forms the outer part of the ankle, providing stability to the ankle joint.
Articulations: Articulates with the tibia at both proximal and distal ends, connected by the interosseous membrane.
Muscle Attachments: Serves as an attachment for muscles like the biceps femoris, fibularis (peroneal) muscles, and soleus.
Fractures: Common in trauma, often occurs with injuries to the ankle or lower leg.
