Fallen Soldier's Skull 1809

The skull of a soldier who fell during one of the battles of the Napoleonic Wars near Znojmo in 1809. His skull shows several healed wounds. These include two incisional wounds on the frontal bone, a cut of part of the right supraorbital arch and a partial cut of the nose. The soldier sustained these wounds in earlier battles, possibly including the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805. The cause of his death is unknown, only the skull has been preserved.
